Overview
This website is intended to serve as a hub for information regarding new analytical and field-based tools designed to improve our understanding of contamination issues in soil, water, and vapor. These tools- many able to provide quantum leaps in information- are just coming to market. Compound Specific Isotope Analysis, Bio-traps, and molecular biological assays (Qpcr) are just some examples of tools that can provide quantitative information about the effects of microbial degradation and natural attenuation of contaminants in groundwater, sediments and soils. However, there are currently many other tools on the drawing board and in development that could be useful the those interested involved in remediation.
This website will track these new tools, provide information about their use, their acceptance by regulators, and the success in improving assessment and remediation. An ad hoc group of researchers, practitioners, and government officials have joined together to ensure that the 'word is getting out.' We intend to work with ITRC, EPA, SERF, ASTM and other groups that are working in this area.
We look forward to providing workshops, adding resources to this site and to the blog coming soon. Please contact us with your comments and suggestions.
