Feb 27th, 2010

The new Environmental Molecular Diagnostics (EMD) Team, formed in 2010, will collect and summarize fundamental background information and current status of available EMDs. The team will:

  • Provide objective guidance on the best practices for using EMDs
  • Determine appropriate uses of the EMDs including their strengths and limitations
  • Provide information to support evaluating, applying and interpreting the results of EMDs
  • Develop a Technical and Regulatory Guidance document
  • Consider recommending that an Overview Document be prepared to provide an educational resource until the final document is completed.

ITRC’s EMD Technical and Regulatory Guidance will foster the appropriate uses of these tools and help regulators, consultants, and site owners to better understand a site and to make decisions based on the results of EMD analyses.
